Chivalry: marked by honor, generosity, and courtesy
Does this picture demonstrate what it means to be chivalrous in 2012?
Pulling out chairs, holding doors, and giving up seats are all wonderful gestures demonstrated by very mature and polite gentlemen, but have these gestures been overshadowed by other acts in life, more specifically on social media? Excuse me for stating the obvious, but in this day and age things have changed. It seems to some, being chivalrous means accepting a relationship request on Facebook, a twitter shout out and posting lovers pics all over instagram. Has chivalry transformed to avoiding certain trending topics out of respect for your girlfriend, advertising her twitter in your bio, or making your profile pic one of you two kissing?
Wether a man is putting his jacket over puddles, shouting out his girl on twitter or waiting on her hand and foot, someone is going to grade him either the Drake type of soft or the superman heroic type. Regardless, folks are going to do what they want and it should be no skin off their backs.
Something to consider: is chivalry dead? or is it just different?
